Learn Teach Earn

About the Program

Learn Teach Earn is a program developed collaboratively by CNUCOM and the Office of Academic Affairs that recognizes and awards CME credit for the learning that occurs while preparing to teach medical students and faculty. Participants track their development by reporting:

  • Needs/Gaps: What knowledge or skills you aim to improve
  • Strategy: How you plan to learn and practice these skills
  • Outcome: What you learned and how your teaching improved
  • Impact: How you will apply these lessons to your practice and future teaching

Credit Types

There are two types of activities eligible for credit in the Learn Teach Earn CME program

1. Preparing to
teach medical students:

Physicians receive two AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for every hour spent teaching what was learned in preparation.

2. Preparing to
teach at a live CME event:

Physicians receive a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per 1 hour of instruction at a live CME activity to share what was learned in preparation.

Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
