Guests heard from deans, engaged with current students, attended college-specific breakout sessions, and learned about scholarship opportunities like the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). The event showcased CNU’s commitment to developing future healthcare leaders through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community engagement.
California Northstate University (CNU) recently welcomed prospective students and their families to an engaging Open House event, designed to introduce the university’s academic programs and vibrant campus life. Held in the university’s event center, the day began with a series of welcoming speeches from the deans of all CNU colleges, along with current students and special guests.
The event provided a comprehensive look at the diverse programs offered at CNU, which includes the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Dental Medicine, College of Psychology, College of Health Sciences, and College of Graduate Studies. Each college was represented by its dean, who shared their vision, curriculum highlights, and what students can expect from their academic experience.
Adding a unique and personal perspective, students from each college also took the stage during the opening session. They shared their personal journeys, challenges, and successes at CNU, and answered questions from prospective students. These student voices provided valuable insight into daily campus life, academic support, and the community culture that defines the university.
Following the speeches, attendees had the opportunity to break out into smaller sessions specific to each college. These breakout groups allowed visitors to tour facilities, meet faculty, ask more detailed questions, and get a closer look at each academic program. Many prospective students appreciated the opportunity to explore the campus through a hands-on, personalized lens.
In addition to university faculty and students, representatives from the United States military were present to speak with visitors about the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP). This program offers a full-ride scholarship opportunity for students pursuing healthcare careers in exchange for service as a commissioned officer. It was an important resource for those interested in financial support and a pathway to serve while practicing medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or psychology.
Throughout the day, a clear theme emerged: CNU is dedicated to producing future healthcare leaders through an integrated, student-centered approach. From undergraduate foundations to doctoral-level training, the university emphasizes academic rigor, community service, interprofessional collaboration, and leadership development.
Whether visitors came to explore medicine, pharmacy, psychology, dentistry, or healthcare administration, the Open House offered a meaningful look into what life could be like at California Northstate University. With opportunities to meet deans, connect with current students, and learn about scholarships and support systems, the event gave prospective students the knowledge and confidence to take the next step toward their academic and professional goals.
For those who missed the event, CNU encourages future applicants to schedule a campus tour, explore college-specific information on the university’s website, or attend upcoming admissions events.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the College of Medicine Staff and IT team for making this event possible. Your dedication behind the scenes does not go unnoticed. Without your hard work, moments like these that inspire and motivate our future physicians would not be possible.
