Dr. Li joined our Basic Science Department in 2024, contributing to the education of our students in muscular, renal, neuroscience, and reproductive physiology. He has a wealth of experience, having dedicated two decades to the University of South Dakota, Sanford School of Medicine teaching cardiovascular and respiratory physiology.
His impressive academic journey began at Chengde Medical College, continued with a Master’s in Physiology from Anhui Chinese Medical College, and culminated with a PhD from Peking University Medical Center. His postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center paved the way for his distinguished career.
Since 2004, Dr. Li's groundbreaking research on neurohumoral regulation in cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, and injury has garnered significant NIH funding of R01, R03, and R15 grants and resulted in 60 peer-reviewed publications. His work not only advances our understanding of critical health issues but also embodies our commitment to pioneering medical research. He has extensive experience in mentoring graduate students and medical students in research.
