Prior to coming to CNU College of Medicine, Dr. Rubin worked in private practice. He was a California County Mental Health Medical Director, Sutter Hospital Chair of Psychiatry, and an Assistant Chief of Psychiatry for Kaiser Permanente. He has taught residents as faculty of UCSF School of Medicine, and medical students as faculty for Drexel University College of Medicine.
In addition to gaining his undergraduate degree in both Biology and Psychology from the University of Illinois, Dr. Rubin spent 2 years travelling, working, and studying abroad experiencing different cultures. He did an additional year of graduate studies in biology at the University of Illinois prior to medical school.
Dr. Rubin completed his 4-year residency in Psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine, and Long-Beach Veterans Hospital which was an integrated program. He was a Chief resident at the Veterans Hospital. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
