Dr. Islam Mohamed is a distinguished pharmacologist, educator, researcher, and mentor. He holds the position of Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and serves as the Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs and Development. Dr. Mohamed's academic journey includes a Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree from Ain-Sham University in Egypt in 2005, an MS degree in Neuroscience as a Fulbright scholar from SUNY at Buffalo NY in 2008, and a PhD from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia in the Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics program in 2014. His postdoctoral training was completed at the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine, where he also undertook additional training as an In-Patient Pharmacist Intern at Emory University Hospital Midtown before joining CNUCOP in 2017.
Dr. Mohamed’s impressive track record encompasses numerous publications, prestigious awards, invitations for oral presentations, research funding support, and hands-on experience in PharmD curriculum and assessments design, as well as ACPE accreditation. He is the author of 12 high-impact original research publications and has delivered over 28 peer-reviewed abstract presentations at highly esteemed research conferences. His accolades include receiving the American Heart Association Fellowship award twice, at both the Pre- and Post-doctoral levels. In 2018, he earned the Early Career Investigator International Travel Award from the International Society for Eye Research (ISER) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. More recently, Dr. Mohamed received the 2021 Division of Pharmacology Educators Travel Award from the American Society for Pharmacology & Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and the 2021 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Biological Sciences section Excellence in Teaching Award. Additionally, he has served as a Research Mentor for the prestigious American Foundation of Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Gateway Award, guiding two outstanding PharmD candidates from CNUCOP on their academic journeys.
