Prior to joining CNU College of Medicine, Dr. Torruellas practiced gastroenterology and hepatology at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, California
After earning her undergraduate degree from Cornell University, Dr. Torruellas embarked on her post-baccalaureate career. She served as a staff research associate at the University of California, San Francisco, and contributed to projects at the Department of Public Health in San Francisco, California. Her academic journey led her to obtain a Master's in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. With her passion for medicine, she pursued a medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, followed by residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis. She subsequently completed her fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UC Davis Medical Center/UC Davis College of Medicine in Sacramento, CA.
Dr. Torruellas has devoted her research efforts to various critical areas, including telemedicine in the treatment of hard-to-reach populations, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) screening in hepatitis B virus (HBV) patients, alcohol-related liver disease, and HCC within diverse populations.
