About

Dr. Wong, a 4th generation Sacramentan, completed his General Surgery Residency at UC Davis – East Bay in Oakland, CA, a 2-year Surgical Research Fellowship in the Lab for Surgical Metabolism & Nutrition at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and his Plastic Surgery Residency at Duke University in Durham, NC. He then returned home, spending more than 18 years at UC Davis as Director of Body Contouring After Weight Loss and over a decade as the Plastic Surgery Residency Program Director.

Board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Wong is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He is Past President of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, immediate Past-Chair of Continuing Education and current State Vice-Chair of the Legislative Advocacy Committee for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Research Interest

Dr. Wong’s research focuses on two areas, that of improving patient outcomes and quality of life through decreasing complications in high-risk surgical patients, improving postoperative pain, as well as offering traditional excisional and more contemporary tissue preservation techniques for post- bariatric body contouring. He has lectured worldwide as an invited speaker and visiting professor, taught numerous instructional courses, and has over 80 peer reviewed publications.
