CNU California Health Policy SIG

Description

We are a group of students at CNU who aim to better understand our healthcare system, through the lens of health policy and advocacy. We work closely with the CMA medical student section and the California Health Professional Student Alliance to host talks to educate ourselves, and to encourage involvement in policy writing.

Mission Statement

The mission of the California Health Policy SIG is two-fold: (1) we aim to increase awareness about public health issues that affect California residents from all backgrounds and address these public health issues through health policy advocacy and activism, (2) we aim to encourage medical students to learn more about public health issues that will be highly relevant to their future practice and how to increase their own participation with health policy, both locally and state-wide.

Core Values

Health Policy’s core values include promoting equity in our healthcare system, a whole-of-government approach to today’s health policy issues, and an open dialogue on today and tomorrow’s health policies

Leadership Values

We seek to create a safe and supportive space, open to all CNU students, to delve into topics that are not addressed in our curriculum, but that we feel are essential to our medical training.
