About

Dr. van der Veen brings extensive clinical and academic experience to California Northstate University College of Medicine from UC Davis Medical Center, after serving 19 years as a general Ob/Gyn at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville and Sacramento. Dr. van der Veen attended Brandeis University as an undergraduate, he then pursued graduate work first earning a Master's in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at The University of Chicago and then a Master's in History of Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He also taught biology at Columbia College in Chicago. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin and went on to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California + Los Angeles County Medical Center. Prior to transferring to Kaiser Permanente, he was in private practice in Tucson, Arizona.
