About
Prior to her current position at CNU College of Medicine, Dr. Hess was a Staff Pathologist and Assistant Chief of Pathology at Kaiser Foundation Medical Center, South Sacramento. Dr. Hess has taught graduate and undergraduate students at UC Berkeley and UC Davis. She has also served as a volunteer faculty member at UC Davis School of Medicine and as a preceptor for residents in Pathology.

Dr. Hess has publications in the fields of health sciences librarianship, pharmacology, and surgical pathology.

Research Interests
Hematopathology and placental pathology.

About
Dr. Dhammika Atapattu is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at CNU College of Medicine and an adjunct honorary fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to his current position, Dr. Atapattu was a Senior Microbiologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Scientist at BioSentinel, Inc.

Research Interests
Biology of bacterial toxins, cell-based and in-vitro assay development, clinical and molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases, biology of emerging and unusual fungal infections (eg. Rhinosporidium seeberi)
